Boarding
At WindKeeper Farm we take pride in the delivery of absolutely first class care, tailored to each individual horse’s needs. All of the boarders are friendly, non judgmental. We welcome all disciplines: dressage, jumping and western, etc., but we are not a show barn.
Our barn manager Caroline is an extremely qualified individual who provides conscientious daily care and constant supervision; and, the owner is always on the property after Caroline’s departure and on weekends. For the past 16 years, we have operated two barns comprising 26 stalls, but have decided this year to cut down to only one barn, thus affording boarders and their horses the same specialized care, without having to deal with a crowded arena – especially during the winter months. As the owner has five horses, there is always ample room for riding.
We have 14 stalls, all of which have windows. There are three large outside rings: one grass with jumps; one grass for dressage with letters and a 100 x 200 sand ring which is used by all. The 5/8 mile racetrack is also a terrific place for either schooling or a blast up the stretch just for the feel of the wind on your face! There are also about 50 acres of hayfields, the edges of which we keep trimmed for additional hacking.
We have numerous paddocks with ample room for small groups of like-minded horses keeping in mind the fact that we like to limit our groups to no more than six horses per field at most. All of the paddocks contain a heated (in winter) supply of water continually kept fresh enough for human consumption and outside hay is provided.
We have two vet services on call as well as farriers, but boarders may make arrangements for their own vets or farriers. We also allow outside coaches if desired with proper insurance.
As of September 15th, 2010 we have two vacancies. We welcome boarders who love their horses, riding and good company. We believe that our boarders pay for peace of mind and providing it is the foundation upon which WindKeeper has been built for the past 16 years.
